Can Everyone Shop? The Accessibility of Swiss Grocery Apps

Buying groceries online can be a game-changer for people with disabilities—but how accessible are Swiss grocery apps?
In this talk, Dimitri will share the results of his master’s thesis, in which he evaluated three popular grocery apps. We’ll go beyond the technicalities of WCAG evaluations and take a closer look at the specific barriers blind users face when trying to shop for groceries. Together, we’ll look at how inclusive design can help cross-functional teams create apps that work for everyone in an evolving digital world.

Dimitri is a Product Manager and former UX Designer with a strong focus on e-commerce. He has worked in agencies and research and now helps shape grocery shopping in Switzerland at Migros Online—both online and in store. He holds degrees in Software Development and UX Design. His thesis examined app accessibility, evaluating grocery apps to identify and address common barriers faced by people with disabilities.
